Probably 1) it reminded me of his unhinged rant toward the end of his daily show tenure about politicians not understanding how sea levels could rise due to climate change. 2) Afaik, the origin of the virus is an open question that was anathema to even discuss in some circles a year ago. I live a very "blue" area, and over the last year I felt some major cognitive dissonance between my political insticts and my intellectual integrity. So seeing him let loose about something like the pandemic's origins was kind of cathartic.
